Help Coast Guardsman AJ in the Fight of his Life
Donation protected
AJ, Alexander James Keating, attended Norwich University after North Andover High School where he played lacrosse. After he enlisted in the Coast Guard he was stationed in St. Joseph’s, Michigan. He then transferred to Staten Island Station, NY where he has been for the past three years. He just re-enlisted for another six years with the Coast Guard and was planning to go to San Diego next week to work with TACLET (Tactical Law Enforcement Team, a unit that specializes in international drug interdiction).
AJ is the son of Laurie Carabello and David Keating. He is the oldest brother of Zachary, a 2022 UNH grad who played men's lacrosse, Hannah, who attends Utica College and plays women's ice hockey and Rachel who is a sophomore at North Andover High School and is on the hockey team. AJ has been an unbelievable big brother and role model to each of his siblings. He has been an ideal son and has made his parents so proud- for the person he is, his values, and his accomplishments. He has the utmost respect and admiration from his fellow Coast Guardmates, who have shared his generous heart, leadership skills, dedication and strong work ethic with his family.
Unfortunately, AJ has had a horrific accident and is in critical condition fighting for his life. He has significant injuries and has a very long road to recovery ahead. He is in the ICU in New York, five hours from his family home in Massachusetts. The military is taking great care of AJ and his family and all funds donated will go directly to AJ to offset any medical expenses not covered by his insurance now and in the future and to assist his family with travel and lodging expenses incurred from being so far from home.
We don’t know how long or how expensive AJ’s road to recovery will be but any additional funds not needed will be donated to the Wounded Warrior Project or a similar cause.
We all love AJ and we wish him a speedy recovery!
Thank you all for your generosity, continued prayers and support for AJ and his family.
