Help Coach Zeke Battle Liver Disease
Donation protected
Help Hampden-Sydney Alumnus and Football Coach Zeke Traylor '06 in his courageous fight against aggressive liver disease.
Zeke has been a fixture on the Hill for nearly two decades. Since his distinguished career as a football player and graduating from the College in 2006, he has been a full-time coach, mentor, and role model to thousands of Hampden-Sydney students, on and off the field.
Zeke's life and coaching career have been disrupted by the diagnosis affecting his liver. He is currently undergoing many medical procedures and is hopeful for a liver transplant soon. More information about his status is below:
- He is battling fluid buildup everywhere in his body . A bi-weekly paracentesis has helped, but has not solved the fluid problem; it has worsened over time and is now affecting his kidneys .
- He is scheduled for a bone density test and an MRI of his abdomen to be submitted to the board of doctors at UVA . Once they review his case, it won't be long until Zeke is most likely approved for a liver transplant.
- He is also scheduled for surgery to have a stint placed in his liver. This will help with the fluid buildup, low sodium levels, and stress on his kidneys . Hopefully, he will have more energy as a result, too. This is just a temporary fix until a transplant can take place. Hopefully by January he will be on the transplant list.
Zeke, along with his wife Adrienne, are deeply grateful for the love, support, and generosity of friends, family, and the Hampden-Sydney/Farmville community!
