On behalf of all of the charity runners that have been coached by Coach Rick Muhr over the years, I am asking for your support.
On Sunday, October 3rd, Coach Rick was involved in a serious accident after hitting a car that turned in front of him while he was riding his bicycle. He sustained many broken bones including 10 broken ribs, a broken arm, a broken clavicle, a dislocated shoulder, 4 fractured vertebrae, a collapsed lung, and other injuries. Luckily, none of the injuries are life-threatening and there was no head trauma. He is so very lucky! He has had several surgeries on his shoulder and is recuperating in the ICU. Rick's in great spirits despite everything he has been through and is very much looking forward to getting out of the hospital and beginning the road to recovery.
But, Rick's road to a full recovery is going to be a very long one, maybe a year or two, and now the coach/man that has inspired thousands of runners, to live their best life and has helped them to achieve their dreams of completing the Boston Marathon, needs our help to get to his start line of healing and his finish line of a full recovery.
As you can imagine, his amazing wife Lori and children, Rider and Macie, will be there to support Rick every step of the way. But, between medical costs, not covered by insurance, being out of work for an extended amount of time, and everyday items, and rehab help he will need throughout his recovery process, I hope you will join me in raising funds for Rick and his wonderful family. Rick will have months, possibly years, of therapy and challenges ahead of him and I know we will all be there for him as he completes his longest marathon yet. Stay strong Coach Rick!! ❤️
