Hello world, I am Django Craig and I was born and raised in beautiful Altadena, California. I'm reaching out on behalf of my dear friend Phillip Pollerana also known as "Coach PJ". He is one of my closest friends and a phenomenal man who has been living and giving to his community all of his life. He was also born and raised in Altadena by his grandmother on East Las Flores Dr. I met him as a kid when my mom and I moved onto Las Flores and we quickly became friends and then family. She instilled in him a sense of service and gratitude. She was known around Altadena as "Mama Tiny" always available with old school wisdom and love until her passing in 1998.
Sadly on 1/8/25 he lost his family home in the Eaton fire. PJ was standing watch hoping like everyone else that the flames would subside and not reach Las Flores but when he saw the flames at the end of the block he be came a modern day Paul Revere running from house to house waking up everyone who was still there insisting that they leave immediately. As the fire tore through our beautiful community almost everyone was able to escape but unfortunately his cousin and our friend did not make it out in time. PJ and our other friends discovered her remains the next day.
He is raising his daughter Savanah and continuing to keep a positive spirit in the midst of tragedy. He has been coaching and training kids in the community for over two decades. He is currently the President of Central Altadena Little League at Farnsworth Park (unfortunately destroyed in the fire too). He was always a hero to the kids he mentored, but truly a hero to the town of Altadena in its darkest hour. Please donate and share...
Any funds raised will go directly to helping them find:
1. Temporary housing
2. Basic necessities
3. The path to permanent housing
Thank you for reading his story and anything given in these times is appreciated beyond words.
With love and gratitude,
Django Craig (best friend of Coach PJ)
