In January of this year, Coach Ben Jackson went in for what should have been a routine checkup; however, that appointment quickly escalated into a two-week hospital stay, during which he underwent a triple-bypass operation. After the surgery and some recovery time, Coach Jackson demonstrated remarkable determination by returning to the sidelines for Landstown High School’s spring season. He successfully coached throughout both the spring and summer, but complications soon arose when his sternum failed to heal properly. He has since been diagnosed with a non-union of the sternum and now requires metal plates to be surgically implanted to support the healing process. As a result, his recovery period has been significantly extended, and he will be out of work for at least three months.
Coach Jackson has been selflessly coaching youth hockey and lacrosse here in Hampton Roads for the last 15 years. Let’s help him and his family with their medical bills and help them through the holiday season!
