Coach Brown, Grayhawk Elementary’s incredible new PE teacher, is more than just an inspiration in the classroom — she’s a true fighter in life. A bladder cancer survivor, Coach Brown bravely underwent chemo and radiation. Unfortunately, the treatments led to a serious condition called radiation cystitis, causing her bladder to stop working.
She has since required bilateral nephrostomy tubes, which have led to four hospitalizations in just one month. Despite these overwhelming challenges, Coach Brown remains hopeful and is preparing to start hyperbaric oxygen therapy — a treatment that may help her bladder heal and begin functioning again.
This year, I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know Coach Brown through the amazing cross-country program she started. (She also started an after-school satellite ball and capture the football, expanded Field Day, and added pickleball to the PE activities). She brings energy, kindness, and dedication to everything she does.
Coach Brown continues to show up with a smile and a positive spirit that inspires everyone around her.
Unfortunately, her medical bills have become overwhelming. As soon as I heard, I thought of our generous and supportive Grayhawk community.
If you’re able, please consider donating to help Coach Brown during this difficult time. Every little bit helps.
Thank you for your kindness and support.
