COACH ABLES MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

A Memorial Scholarship has been established at Carmel High School to honor the legacy of Coach Ables and to recognize CHS student athletes who exemplify the principles that Coach Ables espoused. The goal of the scholarship is to award two meaningful scholarships each year to graduating seniors who meet the criteria for consideration as follows:

A student must have been a member of the CHS cross-country or track team for a minimum of two years and must have demonstrated a "commitment to the TEAM through leadership and hard work". Stellar athletic achievements should not be overlooked, but overcoming challenges to perform up to the student's full potential should be the first criteria.

This scholarship has been funded initially with the remaining modest balance of Coach Ables estate. However, to be sustainable over time, additional funds must be raised. It is the hope of Coach's supporters that friends and athletes who were touched by "Coach" will provide those additional funds which will be deposited into the Carmel High Scholarship Fund (CHSF), a 501c3 tax exempt organization.

The first two Coach Ables scholarships were awarded at the year ending 2023 CHS Recognition Event held at the performing arts theater on campus.
