A Manchester Soul in a Dublin Battle
Clive is a true Mancunian, born and bred. Though life took him across the Irish Sea to Dublin 15 years ago, he has never lost his Manchester roots, his sharp wit, or his love for his hometown. To us, he isn't just a patient; he is a beloved brother and a legendary uncle to 8 nieces and nephews back home who are his absolute world.
For over a decade, Clive built a life in Ireland, but his heart remained in Manchester. Now, he faces his most difficult chapter. After being diagnosed with aggressive cancer that has tragically spread to his brain and bones, Clive is currently receiving palliative care at Blackrock Hospice in Dublin.
Despite the physical toll of his illness, Clive’s spirit remains resilient. His greatest wish—and our family’s sole mission—is to get him back home to Manchester. He wants to spend his final days surrounded by the familiar sights of his city and the family who loves him.
We are racing against time to make this homecoming a reality for his birthday on March 12th. Your support isn't just funding an ambulance; it’s helping us honor the final wish of a man who has always put his family first. ❤️
MISSION TRANSPARENCY STATEMENT: OUR PROMISE TO DONORS "We want to ensure every person who supports Clive's journey home knows exactly how their donation will be used. Our family is committed to 100% transparency as we navigate Clive's palliative care and his wish to return to Manchester. Our Primary Goal: Medical Repatriation Our first priority is to use these funds for a specialized High-Dependency Private Ambulance and a medical crew to bring Clive from Blackrock Hospice to Willow Wood Hospice while he is stable enough to travel. Our Contingency: Final Journey Home In the event that Clive’s health declines and he is no longer fit for a medical transfer, these funds will remain dedicated to his journey home. In this scenario, the money will be used to cover International Funeral Repatriation (transporting Clive from Dublin to Manchester) and his burial in our family plot alongside his Mum, Dad, and Sister. Regardless of the clinical outcome, every penny raised is dedicated to one single mission: Bringing Clive back to Manchester so he can be at rest with his family. Thank you for trusting us and for helping us honor Clive’s final wish."
To comply with GoFundMe’s safety guidelines and provide full transparency to our incredible donors, I am adding the following details regarding the management of these funds: 1. My Relationship: I am Clive’s Neice, and I am managing this fundraiser on behalf of our entire family in Manchester. 2. Use of Funds: 100% of the funds raised (minus GoFundMe platform fees) will be used specifically to pay the invoice for a Private High-Dependency (HDU) Medical Ambulance. This specialised transport is required to move Clive from Blackrock Hospice in Dublin to his hometown of Manchester, UK.
3. Delivery Plan: I am the designated beneficiary for this fundraiser. The funds will be withdrawn into my dedicated bank account, and I will be making the direct payment to the private ambulance company via bank transfer once the full amount is reached and the medical "Fit to Travel" certificate is issued. I am happy to post a photo of the paid invoice as a final update to show exactly where the money has gone.
