We are all coming together to help the Fuller family (Clive & Gail and their 2 children Reg and Kylie) to walk the best path possible in their journey with cancer.
Clive has been diagnosed with stage four adenocarcinoma. The primary source has not been located but the secondary source has shown itself on his liver. His situation has unfortunately been made even more delicate due to the long standing blood clotting condition which lead to an above knee amputation in 2013. He currently has clots near both his kidney and lung and an embolism in his abdomen. As a result of this, chemotherapy is not an option and treating someone with these symptoms would be too high risk. The family have been advised against further investigation as his current condition will not facilitate recovery from invasive procedures.
In light of this, the next steps to be taken are those of palliative measures and an exploration of alternative medicines/treatments to keep him as comfortable and pain free as possible. Due to the dire economic situation in Zimbabwe, treatments and therapies are limited for Clive’s condition. Gail, Kylie and Reg plan to keep Clive at home and out of medical facilities as much as they can. This is due to the fact that home care is a far more comfortable option to the local hospitals as well as the added concern of the risk of Clive being exposed to COVID-19. As the family home is 2 hours out of Harare, the family plans to temporarily move into the capital to be closer to the doctors and treatment facilities available. This will just be until Clive is strong enough again to travel back and forth from home weekly.
The overall financial goal has been estimated to include doctors consultations, blood tests, IV vitamin therapy, supplements, natural remedies, medication, equipment rental and temporary accommodation.
Having witnessed the deep love, appreciation and dedication this family possesses for one another, it is difficult to watch them have to deal with this heartbreaking process on its own. Assisting them with the financial stress of Clive’s road ahead is something we can help with. This is why we are so grateful to be able to put this to such an incredible community and will be so thankful for any support you can offer.
Prayers and positive thoughts, helpful tips and information are almost more welcome as we all know these to be a powerful force.
