H.E.L.P. - Homeless & Ex-military Legal Program.
We are hosting a legal clinic in Moreno Valley to provide transitional, near or homeless veterans legal guidance. The clinic is designed to fill a much needed gap in returning homeless veterans into the workforce. Housing and welfare programs are abundant, but there are very few legal programs designed to aid homeless or transitional veterans in their legal needs.
Our first clinic is scheduled for June 30th, 2018, and funds are necessary to host and expand the clinic. We still need money to provide food, and possible costs for a venue, as we are finalizing the venue as we speak. The goal of $5,000 would be used to help host the first clinic, and provide legal guidance to those in need. We anticipate the turnout to be around 300 homeless veterans from the Riverside County area.
If we are able to raise $10,000, we should have enough to not only run a monthly clinic, but apply for a non-profit corporation. With funding of $15,000 we should then be able to not only open the non-profit, but begin a major donor campaign. This would include hiring fundraising consultants, and a grant writing company to apply for government funding.
If we are able to apply for a non-profit, then we can have an attorney staff to actually handle cases instead of providing just legal guidance. The legal issues our homeless veterans face can be such an overwhelming obstacle veterans have to overcome in order to transition back into housing or the work force. With statistics as high as 60% of homeless people claiming to be veterans, H.E.L.P. is designed to help those who protected our country from being left behind by that same system they fought to protect. Make a contribution to our campaign to aid our homeless veterans get back on their feet. They deserve better than to live on the streets....
