Last night, 12/7/17, just as the Seahawks playoff game was starting, there was a smell of smoke in the house.  Cliff ran outside and realized there was a small chimney fire.  We quickly tried to put it out with the garden hose, but with freezing temps, everything was completely frozen.  They immediately grabbed their grand-daughter Monroe, minnie the pup, backed out the cars, and watched as their forever home burned to ashes.  The FD did the best they could, but because there was no fire-hydrant close, they kept running out of water, and were unable to save any of the home.

Jeff and Heidi grew up in this home.  It was a place of rest, solitude, community and peace.   If you know Debbie, you know how sentimental she is, and how much she valued heirlooms, photos, scrap books, and memories.  Both of their dad's flags from their military burial service were lost.  100 years of cherishable and irreplasable heirlooms, gone.   All of Jeff and Heidi's childhood toys that were purposefully saved for the grandkids to play with, gone

While we all know that our hope and peace is only found in Jesus, this is a brutal loss.  They made it out with only the smokey clothes on their backs, and their two cars.  They lost absolutely everything else.  They will be staying with Jeff, Alise, and their grandkids for a while as they begin to figure out how to rebuild their lives.  We are SO THANKFUL there was no trajedy, injury or death.  But this is a tall mountain to climb.  Let us support them as they begin today to shop for clothes, toiletries, cancel utilities, call insurance (thankfully they were fully insured), and grieve.  Your support is so incredibly appreciated.  Let us shower them with love and support!
