Help CLewis with his cancer treatment
Our dear friend Chris Lewis got the awful news of a cancer diagnosis at the age of 34 soon after his tenure of 8 years at DocuSign ended. Not only did Chris help countless people during his time at DocuSign, but he helps anyone that comes into his life. We are hoping to return that love and help him and his family.
He has been in the hospital or in on-campus housing doing chemo and dealing with complications for basically the entire length of the pandemic. Despite having a stable job before the diagnosis he was let go in June of this year so he and his family will be on COBRA through the end of the year.
He was diagnosed with testicular cancer right around when the pandemic hit and went into chemotherapy soon afterwards. After removing the initial cancerous area, they realized that the cancer had moved to other parts of his body, and he would need a complete stem cell transplant to combat the spread. All of this came with its own set of complications and hardships (pneumonia, finding the right combination of medicines, prolonged steroid use, etc).
After a long battle, it finally looks like the cancer is in remission, though due to prior complications, a second stem cell transplant is off the table for now. Hopefully this might be an option in the future, as it can boost the chances of being in remission for life by 15-20% (though of course that'll be rigorous and expensive).
We are setting this fund up to help Chris and his family, so that they have a future where they can focus on each other and less about debt. After all this heartache, their days should be full of gratitude and hope, not anxiety and more pain.
CLewis is one of the most generous, humble and kind people I know so anything you can do to help is going to help a great man. He's also a very private person, so coming to this point of needing to ask for your help is not something that comes lightly or without dire need.
I know if the tables were turned, Chris would be the first to help many of us out, so please, anything you can do to help is greatly appreciated.
