Help Cleveland's Cubs & Lions Choruses RISE & ROAR: New Risers & Microphones Needed!
At Cleveland Elementary School in Washington, D.C., we know music is a vital part of students’ education and emotional growth. Led by Ms. Diaz and Ms. Ortiz, our Cubs Chorus serves students from kindergarten through 2nd grade, and our Lions Chorus serves students in 3rd-5th grade. Both choruses give children a joyful place to express themselves, build confidence, and connect through the power of song. Check us out on YouTube @clevelandchorusdc!
But right now, our young singers are facing challenges that limit both their learning and their ability to shine on stage. ⭐
We Need Safe, Portable Risers for Daily Practice and Performances
Our current risers are old, extremely heavy, and in poor condition. After years of wear and tear, they’ve become difficult to move and—most importantly—unsafe and unreliable for student use. ⚠️
Because our chorus practices and performs on two different levels of the building, our incredible and hardworking maintenance team is asked to move these bulky risers frequently. This has become a strenuous, time-consuming, and unsustainable task.
A new set of lightweight, rolling risers would:
- Make daily transitions safe and manageable
- Reduce strain on staff
- Increase rehearsal efficiency
- Improve the quality and professionalism of our concerts
- Provide stable, modern, safe equipment for our students
These risers would support our chorus every single day.
A Choral Microphone So Families Can Truly Hear Their Children
Our performance space doubles as the school gymnasium, a room with challenging acoustics. Even when our students sing with all their hearts, their gentle voices can be lost in the echo—a frustrating situation for families who come to hear their child perform.
A quality choral microphone system would:
- Amplify young voices clearly and warmly
- Ensure families can enjoy and appreciate every note
- Boost students’ confidence and pride
- Improve sound for all school events held in the gym
- Every child deserves to be heard. ✨

Cleveland Elementary is a Title I school. While our budget may be small, our students’ creativity, talent, and spirit are limitless. ✨ Unfortunately, the equipment needed to help them succeed is beyond what our current resources can provide.
