This is one of the hardest things we have ever had to write.

My name is Daniel, and I am writing this together with my partner, Cleo. We are asking for help because we have reached a point where love, hope, and reality collide—and we cannot move forward alone.

Cleo has always dreamed of becoming a mother. It isn’t a passing wish; it is something deeply rooted in who she is and how she imagines her future. We imagined that future together.

Recently, after months of uncertainty and emotional strain, Cleo underwent an MRI scan that cost us a significant amount of money. The results were devastating. The scan revealed a fibroid along with other medical complications that mean she cannot carry a child naturally. The news hit us harder than we could have ever prepared for.

There are treatment options—but none of them are easy.

The only option we can currently afford is an invasive surgical procedure. This surgery carries risks and may make things more complicated in the long term. The safer, non-invasive ultrasound treatment—which offers a better chance and fewer risks—is far beyond what we can afford. And this treatment is only the first step in what would be a long and uncertain medical journey.

Here is the painful reality we are facing:

If we spend everything we have just to get Cleo the treatment she needs, and if we are lucky enough to then have a child, we will not have the financial means to give that child the secure, stable start in life they deserve. We are being forced to choose between hope and responsibility, and no parent—or future parent—should have to make that choice.

Asking for help is deeply uncomfortable for us. We are independent people, and this is not something we ever imagined doing. But we have reached the limits of what we can manage on our own. We are asking not because we feel entitled, but because we know there are kind people in the world who understand how fragile dreams can be—and how powerful compassion is.
