Help Cleo get an Autism Service Dog!

Hello!

Our daughter Cleo has been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This causes her issues with social communication, anxiety, repetitive behaviors, and frequent meltdowns.

We recognized early on that Cleo suffered from sensory overload which often caused moderate to severe meltdowns. These meltdowns could trigger behaviors which could cause her bodily harm. Over time we realized that interacting with animals helped calm her down more than anything else. Our dogs have had an incredible impact on her ability to self-soothe when meltdowns or anxiety attacks occur, but they can't be with her all the time.

Her doctor and Behavioral Health Psychologist recommend Cleo work with a service dog to help navigate the daily challenges she faces. We are hoping to raise funds to provide Cleo with a trained service dog.

Some benefits of Cleo working with a service dog include:

Trained service dogs for people with ASD generally cost $10,000-$30,000. Our goal is to raise enough money to help with the costs of purchasing, training, and caring for a dedicated service dog.

Service dogs are protected by the ADA. They are allowed to go anywhere with the handler as long as the general public is allowed to go there. One of the disabilities that qualifies for a service dog is Autism Spectrum Disorder. Here is a link to the ADA website: https://www.ada.gov/

ALL of the money donated will go to acquiring, training, and caring for a service dog for Cleo. Any donation amount will help us get closer to our goal of making Cleo's daily life more manageable.
