On the night of June 5th, my son and I had to leave our home because of domestic violence. I was punched several times in the face and received greater threats of physical harm from my father. It had been a long time coming, but having to leave so abruptly put me in an awkward situation financially where I needed to have enough money to pay a security deposit + first month's rent, but also had to pay for immediate needs like hotels, food and transportation to view apartments. I ended up using my credit cards to cover the difference and because of this have accumulated a lot of credit card debt. 

This morning (July 3rd) I was approved for a below market rate apartment in Berkeley, and as I move forward and try to build a new life with my son I'd like to have as little debt as possible so any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
