After getting tired of constantly seeing endless amounts of trash on Savage Creek Road and other BLM (Bureau of Land Management) public roads around the Grants Pass, Oregon area, I figured I can do something about it and clean up what I can, but the pickup loads of trash and furniture (chairs, couches, etc.) taken to the dump are getting expensive.
For the last several years, we have been trying to clean up Savage Creek Road and the multiple side roads off of Savage Creek Road. I try to get out at least one day a week and clean up an area. Sometimes it takes me several weeks (working at it one day a week) to clean up an area due to the amount of trash and steep terrain.
I clean up and report new trash dumps to the Sheriff's Dept and BLM Law Enforcement in hopes of charges being brought against the offender and in case there is other criminal activity associated with what is in the trash (stolen items, stolen mail, etc.).
Funds donated will be used to pay for gas, dump fees, supplies (grabbers, bags, gloves, water, etc.).
So far, I have not had to pay to take in discarded tires due to several free tire recycling events in the area that happen every year, but I don't know how long they will continue to happen.
So far, there are 7 vehicles that are wrecked and abandoned on Savage Creek Road (a three-mile stretch). I am working at trying to get them removed but am not having much luck.
Once I get Savage Creek Road cleaned up, I will branch out to other roads in the area as needed. There is plenty of trash on the forest roads around here.
Thanks for checking out my page - and a huge thanks to those that have donated and helped out!
