Help Clean Up Bali Islands: Reduce Plastic Waste & Pollution
Donation protected
Let’s make a lasting impact. Donate now and help clean up Bali and its islands—for the people, for the ocean, and for the future.
We are fundraising to support four critical initiatives that will make an immediate impact: Our target is $167,000. We have highlighted below key items that are of high priority for our team, so you can see the impact your donation will make.
Background
The Bali Islands are stunning islands that were once known for their breathtaking beaches, crystal-clear waters, and rich cultural heritage. But behind the beauty lies a growing crisis—waste management infrastructure is failing, and plastic pollution is overwhelming communities!
Every day, tons of plastic waste are improperly discarded, with much of it burned in open air. This not only scars the natural beauty of these islands but releases toxic fumes into the air, poisoning the land, water, and the people who call these islands home. Children breathe in these fumes. Families rely on soil and ocean ecosystems that are being contaminated. The lack of waste management infrastructure has resulted in the health and wellbeing of peoples, the land and the ocean is being severely jeopardised.
But there is hope; We have been working closely with local villages across Indonesia and they want to solve this problem—they just need the right tools to do it. That’s where your help comes in.
How Your Donation Helps
We are building solutions —recycling and repurposing factories that turn waste into opportunity. With your support, we can tackle this crisis at its source, creating jobs, cleaning coastlines, and inspiring a model of sustainability. Every donation brings us one step closer to a cleaner, greener future.
We’ve teamed up with some incredibly talented local organisations, teachers, school, local businesses and visionary artists to turn plastic waste into purpose. Together, we will be creating durable, sustainable products — from strong, eco-friendly building materials for buildings and homes to creating stunning tables and chairs that celebrate creativity and conscious living for schools, shops and local establishments. This isn’t just recycling — it’s reimagining the future.
Be Part of the Solution
Your donation, no matter the amount, will directly support real, local solutions to the waste crisis. Together, we can:
✅ Reduce toxic plastic burning
✅ Protect the environment and marine life
✅ Support local communities in tackling waste
✅ Create community-led recycling projects to create long-term jobs and bring sustainable income to local communities
✅ Build sustainable infrastructure for the future
Your support will directly fund these four critical initiatives, each designed to create lasting impact through jobs, education, and community-led waste solutions
1. Compactor Bailing Kits
Right now, local villages collect plastic waste, but they have no way to efficiently store or transport it for recycling. With compactor machines, they can crush plastics into manageable blocks. This makes it easier and more cost-effective to send waste to recycling centers, instead of burning it or letting it wash into the ocean.
An effective low voltage compactor bailing kit would include compactor machine, cabled solar rig, scales and other accessories.
One kit is approximately $3200 AUD plus transport.
The more machines we can deploy, the more communities we can help.
If your donation covers one of these kits in its entirety, we will engrave the machine with your chosen message/name so the receiving community is aware of your invaluable donation and so you can track their journey.
We are hoping to secure 30 kits to ensure we can reach as many villages as we can.
2. Infrastructure for New Recycling Centers
Locations have been allocated for recycling centres to process waste on the island, however these locations are without electricity, water connection and proper road access. Without these, we can’t get these centres running.
Your donation will help install power, connect the water, and build infrastructure so these centres can start making a real difference.
Approximate cost for these works is $9000 AUD
3. Community Kits for Harvest Plastic, Lombok
Harvest Plastic is led by a group of strong dedicated women in Lombok. These women are passionate educators who travel to different villages; teaching women, children and entire communities about the dangers of burning plastic and the importance of proper waste management and recycling. They work tirelessly to protect the health of their people, land and oceans whilst also making this experience engaging and fun for the youth of today!
Your donation will help provide them with the essential kits they need to continue their work in educating and processing of waste.
Each kit includes a marquee, workbench, 5 bin bag frames, scales, barcoding machine and a solar powered compactor machine.
One kit will cost approximately $3500 AUD.
If you would like your donation to cover an entire kit for Harvest Plastic, we will have this machine engraved with your chosen name/message, so the community knows of your invaluable donation.
4. A New Factory Roof for Rumah Plastic Mandiri, Northern Bali
This local recycling business has been collecting and processing plastic waste for over 10 years, but they urgently need a new factory to continue operations due to irreparable storm damage. Without having a new warehouse, their ability to recycle plastic and reduce waste is severely limited.
Approximate cost for works required is $45000 AUD.
Why This Matters
The people of Bali and its islands know the waste problem is a serious problem for the land, the ocean, individual health and for tourism. We’ve been speaking with multiple villages, and they are ready to take action—but the reality is that waste management infrastructure is expensive and beyond the reach of many communities.
Without help, the cycle will continue. Plastic will keep piling up, being burned, and leaking into the oceans. But with your support, we can change this story.
With your support, we can tackle this crisis at its source, creating jobs, cleaning coastlines, and inspiring a model of sustainability for the world. Every donation brings us one step closer to a cleaner, greener future. Join us in protecting paradise — because the planet can’t wait.
We extend an open invitation to anyone who would like to see the impact of their support firsthand. If you ever find yourself in Bali and its surrounding islands, we’d love for you to visit, meet the local communities, and see the changes you’ve helped make possible.
We also understand that people may not be in a position to donate financially with rising costs of living and their own personal situations. Any help is invaluable though, even if that just means a share or repost of this fundraiser to spread the word.
Thank you for your support.
