Help Clawde Take a Swipe at FIP

Hi! My name is Janet and I am fundraising for Clawde, a sweet 8-month-old kitten. He needs your help to complete treatment so he can survive a terrible disease.

A little about Clawde Purrkins

Clawde is our foster kitten, abandoned by his mom at only 2 weeks old.  Scared, half blind, and crying, he crawled his way to my house, where he got all the help he needed to thrive.  My family and I worked around the clock to keep him alive.  Our plan was to foster him out.  That plan changed.

He completed our family.  He became the best friend to his older sister Junipurr, became the only kitty to play and sleep with our dog, Bella, and the only kitty our 15 year old Katrina-kitty could tolerate.  He also became best buddies with 5 year old Zack, who he sleeps with every night and plays with during the day.  He became 4 year old Zelda's favorite photo accessory.  And he became my bathtime buddy, sitting on the edge of the tub to play with the bubbles every time I ran a bath.

After he reached 5 months old and got neutered, I saw a change.  No more playing, no more bath-time visits, no more energy.   He barely ate, yet his tummy was blowing up like a balloon.

I took him to the vet and got the grim diagnosis of FIP.    FIP, or Feline Infectious Peritonitis, is a mutation of the feline coronavirus.   That's right.  My kitty was dying of kitty- Covid, and it was 100% fatal.  The vet wanted him put down immediately.

New Hope

I found an experimental anti-viral  treatment instead; a treatment proven to be about 85% effective.  .  The treatment involves a daily subcutaneous injection every day, for 84 Days, with monthly bloodwork.  If he progresses enough within the first 84 days, he can stop treatment and graduate to an 84 day observation phase.

Why He Needs Your Help

The Meds are expensive.  I already used my small savings to get through the majority of his treatement, in addition to doing odd jobs,  and doubling up sales efforts for my digital store,  but it's not enough.   I didn't count on the blood work costing $250 every  month (for 6 months, on top of the original vet bills), nor did I factor in Clawde's weight gain - which means more medicine.   I also hit a financial snag in which my debit card got hacked.

The shots are painful and Clawde doesn't understand.   But that moment of pain is giving Clawde life.  It's working and Clawde is a true Warrior, who is fighting.  Within 3 days of the treatment, he was playing.  Within 2 weeks, his body had absorbed the fluid in his tummy.  Within 6 weeks, he was gaining weight again, like a kitten his age should.  Clawde has grown so much since his diagnosis... over 3 lbs in fact, and I don't think he's stopping.  I think he's going to be huge!  He's back to his old self.  I hope he gets the chance to reach his first birthday, and many more.  And with the help of generous people like you, he will.
I am looking to:

Pay off the last of Clawde's vet visits: $320
Pay for the last round of Clawde's treatment: $565
Collect enough to ensure we can afford all of his bloodwork: $935

We already raised $570 through a T-shirt fundraiser.

That leaves us with about 1500 to go.

Spread the Word

FIP is curable.  It's not a death sentence anymore.   Clawde and I are spreading the word... educating our vet, and pet parents, like me, who want to the best for the lives we've committed to care for.  And if we manage to make more than we are looking for to cover his expenses, the overage will go to help cats like Clawde, around the world.

Thank you for any kind thoughts, encouraging words, and, of course, donations.
