Help Claudio Towards Lens Replacement Surgery
My husband, Cláudio, has always suffered from very bad eyesight ever since he was born. When he was young, his mum thought he was going to grow up as a genius as he held everything so close to his eyes & watched tv by standing directly in front of it.
When his parents eventually realised that it was his eyesight he then had to start wearing very high prescription glasses, the ones people often joke as 'bottle' glasses. He became very self conscious about how his eyes looked as the lenses made them look tiny compared to his face. Even now at 28 he feels very self conscious. Thankfully as he got into his teens, contact lenses became available & he jumped at the chance at wearing them.
However, even with contacts & wearing his glasses, his vision still isn't great & he's longed to have eye surgery but has always been told he can't as his eyes kept getting worse. His prescription at the moment is -17.00.
On the 4th March 2021, Cláudio went for a routine eye test & was told his vision had hardly changed! For so long he's been told that his eyes are continually getting worse but for the first time, his eyes have remained pretty much stable! This means he would be entitled to get the eye surgery he has so longed to have. The optician has recommended him to have Multifocal Lens Replacement Surgery.
"Lens Replacement Surgery is a vision correction technique which can correct a wide range of visual errors, as well as treating cataracts. It’s one of the safest and most regularly performed operations in the world – with over 3 million people in Europe going on to enjoy the life-changing benefits of having their vision transformed with intraocular lens (IOL) replacement. "
The only thing, though, is the cost. It's approximately £6500 for both eyes to be done, something we simply cannot afford. We believe in God, & if it's His will for Cláudio to get this treatment, we know He will provide through whatever means.
I am Nikki, his wife, & I am the one writing. He doesn't know I'm doing this. I live with his struggles & I know how much he desires this. I understand there are more pressing issues in the world right now, & other people with worse problems, but I truly love this man & I'm praying that if the Lord wills, He would allow funds to be raised.
