Help my sister-in-law Kristina with Medical and Hospital Stays.
Dear friends, family, kind-hearted strangers.
I’m reaching out to you today with a heavy heart.
On Monday night, September 2nd, 2024, my sister-in-law was admitted into the hospital. It was earlier that night that she walked towards the car, fell, and hit her head on concrete. Within minutes she had enough time to go back inside and tell her family she fell and hit her head. She was in so much pain, she began getting hot flashes, dizziness, and like she was gonna faint. Her family immediately took her to the nearest hospital where she was transported to a trauma center in another town. In that flight her brain swelled and was bleeding too much, it got to the point the Doctors were doing everything they could to save her life. Within minutes it had gone from a head injury to a developed brain bleed. Doctors went from drilling a hole in her skull to release the pressure to having to take her into intense surgery to completely remove her skull. She is also on a ventilator to help her breathe because without it she can’t breathe on her own. Surgery had gone well, but some days she is responsive and can only move her hands and feet. Other times she can't do either. She’s gotten to the point that she can open one eye which is good. But she can’t open the other eye and she can’t talk. There has been some improvement but with it being a severe head injury, it’s going to take some time for her to make it back to her normal self. About her skull, the Doctors said they won’t be reattaching it until the swelling has gone down, and she is responsive for long periods of time.
Kristina and her family had come down to Florida from Nebraska to visit family. They were only a couple days into their vacation when the incident occurred. With all the tests, hospital stays, and the long road ahead, it’s a really tough time for my family. Due to my brother being with her full time and her kids wanting to stay near their mom, they currently don’t have the funds to pay and keep up with their medical bills and expenses.
We just want her to get better. We are only taking everything one day at a time. Kristina is currently fighting for her life, and her family needs her here. No contribution is too small, and every little bit of support helps whether it be donations, sharing this post, or any kind words of encouragement. If you’re religious please keep Kristina Mendoza in your prayers, it is very much needed at this time. Any of those will mean the world to us and her family. Your generosity will go directly to my sister-in-law's medical expenses and the care she needs to get back on her feet.
Thank you and God bless you all!
