Trans Woman In Dire Need of LIFE-SAVING Treatment

Hi, I'm fundraising for my dearest friend Claudia Spaniak. Some of you may know her just as Claudia, others may know her as L.A. Olympics. She is a trans survival sex worker and also a well-known DJ. If you live in NYC or Chicago you may have her to thank for creating an unbridled atmosphere of freedom on the dance floor at many major parties and functions. She is the girl at the party who shifts the energy in the air once she walks through the doors. Throughout the years I've known her and beyond, Claudia has been a beacon of light, a source of joy, and a symbol of unapologetic womanhood. While she may not always think so, this is how I and the countless others for whom she has left an indelible impression, have viewed her. But those closest to her - her closest friends and family - also know that she is living in extreme circumstances, which are toxic and pose great risk to her life.

 

This is not the first time that drugs have landed Claudia in a position where she needed help dearly, but this is the first time where she has whole-heartedly reached out to myself and those closest to her, pleading for help, finally willing to break the years-long cycle of addiction and untreated health issues that have plagued her, and made it almost impossible for her to advocate for herself and be honest in confronting the long road ahead. She has always joked, darkly, that if she were to die, that she wants me to deliver her eulogy. I do not want to eulogize her, so that is why I am humbly creating this GoFundMe to give her another chance at life.

 

I have found a treatment center where she currently resides in Portland, OR that will affirm her in her transition, treat her addictions, provide her much needed mental health guidance, primary care, surround her with other trans/NB peers, get her on the Oregon Health Plan, give her assistance in finding a job so she can exit sex work safely, and much more. This facility is extremely well-reviewed and ran exclusively by people who are in recovery and those who have also lived at their sober living household for many years. She will be undergoing detox and a Partial Hospitalization Program for one month, Intensive Outpatient for 2 months, all while living at a sober living facility with her peers and staff. They have graciously included an additional month of outpatient as well.

 

I am humbly crowdfunding for the costs of her treatment in full, as well as the costs of maintaining her current living situation in Portland for 90 days, so she has a home to come back to. What is needed IMMEDIATELY to start treatment is a $10,000 downpayment & $4950 for the initial detox. A payment plan will be worked out for the rest of the costs.
