Let's come together to help our dear friend Clark Samson!

Thank you thank you for all the support in the past year. As many of you know, Clark has been living in a skilled nursing facility since January 2025, after he had a serious medical incident. He is stable now.

He is on a waitlist to move into a "nicer" assisted living facility, through a federal program called the Assisted Living Waiver program. I'm told the earliest he would get off the waitlist and into a place is May 2026.

His social security income is the only income he has, and now all but $35/month go to his room and board at the nursing facility.

Us small group of local friends who visit/talk w him regularly are asking all of you to donate so there are funds for his quality of life -- he loves monthly foot massages at a place in San Rafael, meals out, new clothes, occasional kirtans, flowers, sugar-free beverages and art supplies.

The place where Clark lives for now is ok but pretty grim. Many of the residents are formerly unhoused, and they scream at night. Clark finds the place very depressing and sleeps much of the time. The staff do the minimum to care for residents (fortunately Clark likes the food there but not much else).

FYI Clark has dementia. It shows up on an MRI now. He remembers people but often his short term memory is not there. He gets anxious and confused and mixes up fears with reality. So, when you talk with him, please keep this in mind and please reach out to us/local friends to verify anything he says. For example, he has told some people he was being kicked out of the nursing facility in two weeks (not true).
