We are a Tokyo-based couple and our 9-month-old cat, Clark, fell down the stairs in our apartment on the night of February 9th (last night, as of writing this) bringing a box down with him, breaking his rear left leg.  Due to the nature of the fracture, our vet has advised us to expect his medical expenses to cost at least 400,000 JPY, equivalent to approximately $3,644 USD.  Unfortunately, this number is only for the initial surgery, assuming he only needs to have two plates put in.  They will not know what he actually needs until they can get an internal look, but I was told to expect upwards of 600,000 JPY ($5,466)  by the time all is said and done.

I was told this afternoon that we have about a week to make a decision regarding Clark, and we would rather not have to put him down, as he still has many years ahead of him that we would like to spend with him.  However, once we decide if we can proceed with the surgery, we will need to pay for all expenses (both expected and unexpected) in a single payment the day we pick him up.

Clark was dropped off in a box at a cat shelter in Fukushima, Japan this past June.  We took him in as a foster this past August but over the months ended up falling deeply in love with him and his cuddly personality.  Clark is the definition of a lap cat, he is at his happiest sleeping on Lora's chest for hours on end and always asking and demanding pets and love.  Clark has become a part of our family for the both of us as well as his kitty bother Bruce.


Any donations will be greatly appreciated and all of the money raised will be put towards his surgical expenses as well as any additional medical bills incurred during, what we have been told, will be his two month recovery period.  Anything that is left over will be donated to Japan Cat Network, the shelter we adopted him from.
