Help Clarissa's family with ethical bat extraction
Hi, my name is Clarissa and my mom and I could really use your help.
On Friday, July 9th around 3am, I was asleep in my home when I suddenly got attacked by a potentially rabid bat! Because it scratched me, I was advised to go to the ER to get the rabies vaccine.
When I got back home from the vaccine, we had Animal Control inspect our house. They couldn’t find the specific one that attacked me, but they found a COLONY of bats living in our attic. The bats are federally protected and endangered so it is illegal for us to exterminate. We have to wait a month for Animal Control to ethically remove them, and it is going to cost approximately $3500! (Homeowner’s insurance doesn’t cover bat removal)
This is such an unexpected expense! My mother cannot afford this; she has been unemployed for over a year due to the pandemic and just started another job. I can’t help her because my medical costs might end up being in the thousands as well.
If you are able to donate anything, we would greatly appreciate it. Please share this GoFundme with your friends and family! We could really use the support.
Thank you!
Your donation will go towards:
1. Ethical bat removal
2. Helping Clarissa with her out of pocket medical costs for the rabies vaccine/ER visit
- Pictures of me getting my first dose of the rabies vaccine! 1 in the arm, 2 in the hip. The vaccine is a four dose process over the course of 2 weeks, and I was informed while getting the vaccine that it may cost me thousands of dollars out of pocket, even with insurance just for that one visit (it’s an expensive vaccine, and my insurance provider doesn’t cover it). I’m in the process of figuring this all out with my insurance, so hopefully it’s not too expensive, but it’s not looking or sounding too good!
- Animal Control sealed the attic door with tape for now until they can come back to ethically remove the bats in August.
