Help Clarence (CJ) Powell Rebuild Life After Fire
On August 4, 2021, a fire occurred at the home of Clarence (CJ) Powell. Clarence was not at home when the fire started, but was allowing a family of four to live with him. One of the adult family members left a pan of oil on the stove burner unattended, which caused the house fire. The family was able to evacuate the home safely, and there were no injuries. After the local fire department put the fire out, the damaged home was declared uninhabitable, leaving Clarence, the homeowner, displaced. To make matters worse, unfortunately, Clarence was in between homeowners insurance carriers, therefore, the home was uninsured at the time of the incident. His immediate needs include temporary housing, clothes, shoes, and toiletries. To rebuild his home, Clarence needs a new roof, roof trusses, subfloors, sheetrock, flooring, electrical work, doors, windows, plumbing, appliances, and home furnishings.
Clarence, a business owner, operates a full-service music company, which has been a cornerstone of Charlotte’s West End community. In the midst of the damage caused by the house fire, the business’ audio engineering equipment was also ruined, directly affecting his steady stream of income.
Rebuilding one's life after a devastating loss is overwhelming for any person, and for Clarence, this is no different. While we are grateful no lives were harmed, there are immediate and future needs that exist and are difficult to ignore on his journey to restoration. It’s hard to know where to start, but as the friends of Clarence, we want to help him take steps into a brighter future. Clarence has spent years pouring into others without ever looking for anything in return. Now more than ever before, we believe it’s our turn to pour back into him so that he can rebuild his home and his livelihood. With the support of kind donors, we believe this is possible.
Please help if you are able. Every little bit counts. Prayers are welcome.
With Gratitude,
The Friends of Clarence "CJ" Powell
