This is Baxter. He is my friend Clare’s 7 year old rescue dog. She and her family adopted him when he was 9 months old and he has been through a lot with them including her divorce, her kids’mental health struggles and switching schools, and all of their happy celebrations too! He means the world to Clare and everyone in the family.
Clare is one of my best friends. She is a single mom and cannot afford the vet bills for Baxter's emergency care (see below). If you would consider donating even $1.00, it would mean so much to the family. I do not want them to have to choose between putting Baxter down and paying his vet bills. I hope you will consider donating as you can.
On Saturday, Baxter ate one grape and then on Sunday, he ate 4-5 more grapes. Based on research, any amount of grapes over 3 is considered toxic to dogs, with a risk of death. The family tried to induce vomiting at home, with no success, and took him to the emergency vet. They admitted him to once again try to induce vomiting, but he has only thrown up one grape. The veterinarian suggested hospitalizing him with Ivermectin and fluids, but the cost was over $4000. The family chose to take him home and have him see his regular vet each day until his kidney levels and bloodwork return to normal.
There is a risk of kidney disease, but the family will find out more information with progressive vet visits. The initial vet bill was $1100. His next daily visit was $231. He has two more visits which with all visits included will be close to $2000.
Any contributions will be used for the care of Baxter and would be greatly appreciated by me and the family. I hope you will consider donating to help us save Baxter.
