Hi, my name is Jane and I’m fundraising for my dear friend of over 35 years, Clare.
You may know her as Clare Potter, Clare P, “Curly Clare” or “Clare with the hair.” However you know her, you’ll know that Clare has always been a vibrant, smiling, zest-for-life kind of person.
Clare has recently been diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) – Bulbar onset.
You can read more about the condition here: https://www.mndassociation.org/about-mnd/mnd-explained/what-is-mnd.
MND is cruel and relentless. For Clare, it already means fatigue, difficulty with speech, and challenges with eating. Yet she remains determined to live life as fully as possible – whether that’s enjoying live comedy and music and returning to Scotland with her family, or simply spending quality time with her husband and boys.
But alongside the dreams and memories still to be made, there’s a very real, practical side to this journey. Clare’s home urgently needs adaptations to keep her safe and give her independence for as long as possible. This includes:
• Ramping and access solutions (widening doorways etc) to get in and out of her home (approx 5-7k)
• A downstairs accessible bathroom with a shower, sink, and bio-bidet or similar for dignity and ease (between 10 and 12k)
These modifications are costly, and the family are facing financial strain just trying to cover the essentials and whilst they’ve received some small grants, they don’t cover the costs and every additional penny they have to put into ramps and bathrooms is a penny taken away from giving Clare the chance to enjoy her time while she still can.
That’s where we can step in.
Your support will help in two crucial ways:
1. Practical needs – easing the burden of vital home adaptations
2. Precious moments – making sure Clare doesn’t have to sacrifice living fully now for the sake of future necessities.
Clare has always been the kind of person who lights up a room and lifts others with her warmth and humour and positivity. Now, it’s our turn to lift her up.
If you can, please donate – no matter how small. And if donating isn’t possible, sharing Clare’s story is another powerful way to help.
Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts ❤️
