Help Clara Recover: A Loving Dog’s Long Road to Healing

My name is Chelsea, and I’m setting up this fundraiser for my manager, Jennifer, who has been fighting an incredibly difficult battle to get her dog, Clara, the care she desperately needs. Clara’s situation has been heartbreaking, and Jennifer and her family have been doing everything in their power to help Clara heal from a series of complications caused by veterinary negligence. Below is a message from Jennifer McGurk and her family explaining Clara's story in more detail.

A Message from Jennifer McGurk & Family:

We’re reaching out with a heavy heart to share the story of our beloved dog, Clara, and ask for your support during this incredibly difficult time. Clara recently went through a major health ordeal due to the negligence of her vet, and now, she has a long and painful journey to recovery ahead of her.

It all started when we took Clara in for what we thought was a routine check-up after discovering a lump on her leg. The vet found two more lumps in her abdomen, and tests revealed that Clara urgently needed surgery to remove them. Unfortunately, what should have been a straightforward procedure turned into a series of complications, all stemming from errors made during her surgery and post-operative care.

After the surgery, Clara's paw swelled significantly, and her bandages and stitches were done incorrectly. Her stitches were placed too tightly, causing her extreme pain and discomfort, and her bandages were applied improperly. The swelling in her paw became so severe that it ruptured, and we were faced with the devastating possibility of amputation. But that wasn’t the only problem. The stitches on her abdomen were also improperly done, and too much skin had been pulled during the surgery. This resulted in necrosis of the skin, which caused the tissue to die and left Clara in need of additional surgery to repair the damage.

Despite all of this, Clara is a fighter, and we’ve chosen a longer and more intensive healing process in hopes of saving her leg. Clara now requires daily bandage changes, special treatments, and ongoing care, which will take months. Her paw is still healing from the improper stitches and bandaging, and we’re doing everything we can to make sure she gets the treatment she needs. We are committed to her recovery, but the financial burden of her medical bills is overwhelming. The costs for surgeries, medications, and daily wound management are adding up quickly, and we need your help.

That’s why we’re reaching out to our community. We humbly ask for your support in helping us cover Clara’s ongoing medical expenses. Clara has been a loyal and loving companion, bringing joy to our lives every day. It’s heartbreaking to see her in pain because of what could have been avoided with proper care.
