Help Claire Wolf Defend her Life's Work

Author of YoSys, Project IceStorm, NextPNR, PicoRV32 - Founder of the Opensource FPGA community - Needs our help!

Since the information surrounding Claire's situation has come to the attention of the OpenSource FPGA and FOSSi community...

We would like to help her by raising as much money for her legal challenges as possible.

The least we can do is take her financial worries away.

Claire has decided that any unused funds will be donated to a cause close to her heart!

Thank you all so much.

TLDR

For a full summary of the context, please see Claire's tweet below:

I am James Walmsley, an embedded software engineer in the UK. I have known Claire for more than 10 years since we worked together at an Austrian laser measurement company.

Ever since Claire has been a very close friend of mine

I gained a lot of my knowledge and expertise from this incredibly kind and patient person, who can explain the most complex subject to anyone of any level. At the end, everyone including Claire will walk away feeling they have learnt something.

Claire is essentially the founder of the open-source FPGA, FOSSi and Verification community, who started working on open-source synthesis tools even before YoSys back in 2011. Ever since she has enabled the open-source community to develop new tools and projects that were not possible 10 years ago.

Today she and some of her key and critical open-source projects are under serious threat from a legal attack.

Your donations will start a legal fund that Claire can use to defend her software, and put an immediate end to the legal stale-mate she finds herself under.

We all want to see Claire be freed to continue her vital work in the open-source community without threat from legal litigation.

Unused funds, or further donations to this cause shall be used to build up a legal defence fund for the open-source hardware, FPGA, synthesis and verification community. We will not allow anyone in this community to have their continued work come under legal threat.

I thank you all for your incredibly kind and generous donations.
