Help Claire Study Abroad: Painting in France!
Donation protected
I was six years old when I saw a picture of the Eiffel Tower for the first time and I was struck to the core with the desire to see it for myself someday, to revel in the art and architecture of Paris. Now, almost exactly thirty years later and thanks to Portland State University, I have the opportunity to achieve this childhood dream.
This summer term I will be attending PSU's study abroad class 'Painting and Street Art in France' which extends far beyond Paris itself! The itinerary includes visits to the Louvre, the Musee d'Orsay and the Museum of Modern Art, as well as touring local artist studios and conducting many sessions of our own on location, painting outdoors in the footsteps of painters like Matisse and Cezanne. At the end of the class we will each have more than just memories, we will have a series of paintings to document our experience. Spectacularly, there's even a day trip to the ancient cave paintings in Lascaux which are estimated to be 15-17,000 years old. The chance to see these in person is beyond anything I ever could have imagined...
I've been saving for this trip since the fall so I am not asking for the full price of the program, but you can still help me get to France. I'm including this link to PSU's Study Abroad page for anyone who is interested in more information about the class and a breakdown of the finances which include both school fees for tours and independant fees like plane tickets. I'm indescribably grateful to PSU and all of my friends, family, and supporters. Truely, thank you from the bottom of my six year old heart. Merci beaucoup!
