A Debt She Cannot Pay

We are reaching out to anyone who wants to help Claire pay off a student loan that is due. Please allow me to explain ... As many of you know, our daughter, Claire, graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Psychology degree at VA Tech last Spring. This achievement was not only the fulfillment of her dream to graduate from VA Tech, but also a summit in her long journey of overcoming Lupus, fighting through years of secondary infections, pain, fatigue, and brain fog. Many of you helped get her to VA Tech by generous donations back in 2021, and many carried her through the next three years with prayers and encouragement. We are all so grateful and very proud of The Bear.

Most of you also know that Claire began the full-time graduate program in Elementary Education at VA Tech last Summer. This is an extremely demanding program. Unfortunately, Claire also finally got Covid last Summer, and it wreaked havoc on her immune system, weakening her to the point of succumbing to another bout of Covid in the early Fall. It reached the point where Claire knew that for the first time in this journey, she had to quit. It was just not possible for her to continue; therefore, as hard and sad as it was, she made the decision to withdraw and come home. She has been convalescing at home since October 18.

Claire is in considerable debt for two and a half years at VT as an out-of-state student, and she assumed the full responsibility of paying that off. However, while her Sallie Mae loans are all under deferment because she has not been able to work, a recent $12,000 loan that was disbursed through VA Tech for part of her graduate program must be paid back to the Bursar, with no deferment possible regardless of her inability to work. She has a 10 month payment plan to pay it off, and we do not have the means to handle this; so we are reaching out to anyone who might be able to help Claire pay this loan. We want no one to feel obligated to contribute to this effort, especially if you already donated back in 2021. Prayers for her recovery would be so appreciated, and if you feel led to help financially, we would be all the more grateful. Thank you so much!!
