Update: Just a few days ago, we were informed that Claire’s cancer diagnosis is more complicated than the doctors initially believed. The good news is that Claire’s fantastic team of doctors at Mary Bridge has teamed up with a great group of doctors at Seattle Children's Hospital. The teams of doctors have formed a comprehensive plan for moving forward with Claire’s cancer treatment!

Gratitude: Our family is in complete awe of all the support shown by the community, friends, and family!!! It really is difficult for us to accept so much graciousness from so many people, but we are coming to realize that the help is okay and needed. We cannot possibly express enough gratitude to everyone who has donated and/or helped so far, but we want all of you to know that we are truly thankful!!! Your kindness has significantly helped lessen the burden on all of us!

I am writing on behalf of an amazing young lady - Claire, and her dear family: Jason, Chrissy, and Vivian Smith.

Claire recently learned that her Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (A.L.L.) has returned. She was originally diagnosed with A.L.L. at 12 years old. For two and a half years, she fought like a warrior and won.

Now at 17, rather than enjoying and celebrating her senior year in high school, she is again fighting this cancer. If you know Claire, you know that behind those big blue eyes and sweetheart smile is a heart filled with love and a soul determined to succeed.

However, this fight comes with many expenses (for the second time) and many more unknowns. Currently, Claire is in the hospital for at least a month while she receives treatment most days and possibly a bone marrow transplant in the future.

Both Jason and Chrissy (her parents) are trying to continue to work as well as take shifts staying with Claire while she is in the hospital. As we all know, medical bills are crazy, and there are many for this family.

The money raised would be used to ease the financial pressure that this type of devastating situation creates.
