I don’t even know where to start today. We were finally in a good place. For the first time in a long time, we could breathe.
We’d cleared the sick bay. We were rebuilding. We’d started saying “yes” again.
And then today hit us like a truck.
10 kittens brought in I was told they were “fine.”
They’re not.
They’re sick. Every single one of them. Full of flu and conjunctivitis.
We weren’t prepared for this. We didn’t plan for this. And I’m absolutely heartbroken.
We drove to Longsight to collect a pregnant stray from Smart Street. If she belongs to anyone, we need proof of ownership and an explanation of why she’s been allowed to have at least two litters, that we know of, is not chipped, and is wandering the streets pregnant again. (Last picture)
We’ve got three more cats coming from two separate vets today.
And possibly seven more cats and kittens arriving tomorrow.
That’s over 20 lives in just two days.
I’m completely overwhelmed.
I’m tired. I’m upset. And honestly? I feel like the fall guy again.
To anyone surrendering a cat:
Please stop lying.
If they’re sick, just say so. We won’t turn you away. But when you lie and say “they’re well” and they’re clearly not — we’re the ones left scrambling, panicking, trying to make space, and finding the funds that just aren’t there.
We’re in the middle of expanding the rescue to help more cats but that now has to stop. The money we’d saved for building is now going straight to vet bills, meds, and emergency care.
We’re back to square one. Again.
I don’t ask for help lightly, but today I need to. I have to.
If you can spare anything even the cost of a coffee it will help us keep going.
To treat these babies.
To make space for the ones coming in tomorrow.
To get through another day.
