I’m CJ, I tried to raise money when I was still in the hospital after a horrific car accident where I shattered my left leg and my right foot, had brain surgery and a blood clot in my lung. I spent nearly 2 full months without visitors or any real human interaction in a horrible for-profit hospital with no insurance that discharged me early and I was neglected nutrition, the opportunity to be BATHED and medical help during my stay, almost losing my life multiple times. (I had no choice since my surgeries were considered life saving and I was unconscious and losing a ton of blood at the scene of the accident, pinned in my car. Then was able to get into a better hospital for just a few days before being able to leave Florida (where I do not live). And had to visit a third hospital where I am currently “crashing” with a good friend who was able to take me in temporarily. I knew this journey of losing all my belongings, my car, and fighting for my life was not going to be easy but I didn’t know it was going to be this HARD. I have no home, can no longer work, and life inside a hospital has not been much different on the outside. To top it off, I had credit cards and cash stolen and no way to pay off any of those cards, despite reporting them. Now I am in a safe place for the time being, but things are tough and I cannot care for myself. I have to ask for assistance to do very simple tasks. I also did not have any way to contact anyone for quite some time after my accident. Glass and blood and dirt and water from the crash pretty much destroyed EVERYTHING. Including my self confidence and independence. As an extremely a active and independent person, this kills me inside. Things are tight and I do not like asking for help, but this is one of those times that I have hit a pretty dark place in my life having everything ripped away. I have been applying for government assistance but everyone knows that’s a very slow moving process. I need some warm clothes since I am up north now and don’t have any, hygienic necessities, groceries, and things to help with my recovery that I never thought of before. I also have many doctors appointments coming up that should start to give me some answers on how long the recovery will be but it looks like 7 more months to 2 more years for physical. Anything helps. I no longer look or feel like myself and the physical and mental stress are enormous. Literally ANYTHING would help take the monetary pressure off at least, so I can get things I NEED while I deal with the mental and physical rehabilitation from doctors
and eventually PT when I can get some recovery benefits. If you feel compelled to give, thank you!
