Help Cindy's ❤ Beat Go On

On January 25th our Mom , Cindy Flynn was taken to the ER at Mercy for stroke like symptoms. Our Dad checked her in and within 20 minutes of their arrival she experienced a massive heart attack causing her to go into cardiac arrest. The code team responded quickly and worked to get a stable rhythm and within minutes she experienced another heart attack. She was rushed to surgery where they placed 3 stents and repaired a tear in her heart. During the surgery she became very unstable so they were unable to place a pacemaker at that time. After her surgery she was admitted to the Cardiac ICU. Due to the current COVID policies our Dad was the only one allowed to be with our mom after surgery. As we waited patiently in the parking lot together praying to hear something good we received the call to come in and see our mom. We rushed in and took turns standing in the hallway beside our Dad frantically praying for a miracle. Our Mom continued to code every 30 seconds for 2 hours. They were finally able to get her stabilized with medication and the rest was up to her.
Our mom fought like hell that night! She was barely stable, intubated, and sedated. Her body endured an unimaginable amount of trauma but she refused to give up. She decided to live!! Her Doctor says it’s a miracle and he plans to write about her case and publish it in the medical journal. She is still in the hospital and not out of the woods yet, they have one more surgery planned to place a defibrillator and pacemaker once her body is strong enough to be put under anesthesia.
Unfortunately, our parents are already being impacted by the financial burden of this unexpected tragedy. Our Dad has stayed by our Mom’s side every minute of everyday unable to work for the first 2 weeks of her ICU stay. We are unsure what the demands of her home care will consist of and if he will be able to return to a full schedule anytime soon.
Our parents have been married for 44 years. We grew up watching them conquer every obstacle put in their way to provide for us. They have given us so much over the years and have never asked for anything in return. Our parents are the most selfless people you will ever meet. They would never ask for help and they certainly do not expect it. We want to try and help them anyway we can and relieve some of the anticipation and stress of the medical bills, extra gas, medical supply expenses, copays, medication costs, etc.
Family isn’t always blood. It’s the people that support you and hold your hand when you need it most. Kim, Kevin, and I are surrounded and supported by the most amazing people.
Every little bit helps, A little goes a long way even if it's just prayer or a share. Stay connected and we will post updates on our Mom’s journey.
Thank you in advance for your generosity and support!
