For weeks, I wasn’t feeling well but kept hoping things would get better. I hadn’t been to a doctor for many years, and, with limited insurance coverage, I kept pushing through, not wanting to burden anyone or share how difficult things had become. When I finally ended up in the hospital, I was diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukemia—a lifelong condition that completely changed the course of my life.
At first, I was embarrassed. I didn’t want to admit that we were struggling or that medical bills were piling up. But over the past few weeks, something beautiful has happened—our clients, friends, and community have reached out with incredible kindness, asking how they can help. Many have encouraged us to start this page, saying they’d rather give to someone they know than to an organization.
So here I am, learning that needing help isn’t a failure—it’s an opportunity to let others be a blessing.
I’ve recently been cleared to start cooking again for my clients, but only at half capacity as I regain my strength. Each week, I have oncology appointments, blood transfusions, and treatments to help my body adjust to the new medication. My “miracle pill,” as my doctor calls it, is helping manage the disease, but it comes with challenges and side effects that take time to balance out.
The road ahead will be long, but I’m filled with hope—and deep gratitude—for every step forward.
Your support, whether through donations, prayers, or sharing this page, helps lift a huge weight off our shoulders. It allows me to focus on healing and slowly rebuilding my strength while managing the ongoing medical costs and time away from work.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for walking this path with me. Your kindness means more than you’ll ever know.
