After 4 months of inconclusive test results, lost samples, and second opinions; Doug and I sat in the Doctors office. The Doctor said, “I have good news and bad news. The good news is, I finally have results for you.” In that moment my world changed. I heard myself say, “F@*#, I have cancer”. Endometrial Cancer. I reached for Doug’s hand. I listened, I nodded, but I was in total disbelief and didn’t comprehend much of what was said.
Life as we knew it—my routines, my work, my sense of normal—has been turned upside down. Right now, we are trying to process it all while finding the strength to face what comes next.
We live in South Maitland, but my roots run deep in our community. I grew up in Enfield, and for 18 years lived in Fall River. Caring for children and supporting families has always been more than just a job to me—it’s who I am. Today, I continue that passion working in pre-primary in Bible Hill, where the children bring so much light and joy into my life.
It’s incredibly hard to step away from the work and people I love, but I know I need to focus on my health. Between time off work, ongoing appointments, and travel for care, the financial pressure is something we can’t manage alone.
As a couple we have always tried to be there for others. it’s not easy to ask for help, but right now, we truly need it.
If you’re able to donate, share this page, or keep us in your thoughts and prayers, it would mean the world to us. Every bit of support helps lift some of the weight and allows us to focus on healing.
Ladies, after menopause, if you have ANY bleeding or spotting, go to your doctor. Listen to your body. Don’t wait!!
Thank you for standing with us during this difficult time. Your kindness, love, and support mean more than words can say.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Cindy and Doug
