My name is Yvonne, and I am raising funds for my friend Cindy. On November 25th, Cindy was assaulted while going into a Thai restaurant located in Laguna Niguel, CA. As she walked up to the restaurant, she passed a man sitting on a bench. Once she was past him, he attacked her from behind. He hit her and threw her to the ground. She ended up with a shattered femur and hip. Her hip had been replaced 15 years earlier and was destroyed in the attack. The surgeon said she experienced extreme trauma and was in surgery for 6 1/2 hours to repair the damage, which was much longer than expected. It will take up to 1 year for the physical injuries to heal. The emotional injuries from such an attack will last the rest of her life.

Cindy just turned 70 years old and was always very active and positive about life. Her husband and she are both retired. She worked part-time jobs as a caregiver, which she now will not be able to do. Her husband would work part-time jobs as a handyman but is no longer able to do this because of his knees. They are renting an upstairs condo, which they may now have to give up. The assailant took Cindy's purse that had her wallet with cash and credit cards along with her cell phone. The police searched the area at the time of the incident by foot, patrol car, and helicopter, but he has not been caught yet. Cindy and her husband are in a very tough situation right now and anything you can give to help them would be very much appreciated.
