Help Cindy Jones Replace Her Flooded Car
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Cindy Jones, and I’m sharing this from a place I never expected to be—asking for support after a loss that has left me shaken and humbled.
During the recent flood, July 6th in Chapel Hill NC, my Prius V car was drowned. I got caught in a flash flood along 15-501, a major roadway, the car pushed through to get me to safety, but did not survive taking water into its engine. I’m incredibly grateful to be safe, but I’ve been in a bit of shock since it happened—frozen, really—trying to figure out how to move forward.
That car wasn’t just transportation.
It was how I brought drums, healing, and presence to the communities I serve: elder care homes, women’s circles, and spaces that depend on rhythm and connection.
I’m a therapist and a community drummer. Much of my work is offered freely—pro bono sessions, drum circles, and care for those who can’t always access it otherwise. This vehicle was my lifeline for showing up fully. Without it, I can't bring the drums.
As someone who supports others for a living, it’s not easy to be in this role. But I see that I often tell others: ....to ask is to be brave... So here I am, practicing being brave by asking...
Your contribution—whatever the size—will help me replace my vehicle with something reliable so I can continue doing the work I love.
If you can’t donate, sharing this with your community is also a huge help.
Thank you for meeting me here, in such a vulnerable place. My community has been greatly hurt by the flooding.
I will carry this support forward with care and deep gratitude.
With humility and heart,
Cindy
