In 2021, Cindy was diagnosed with stage IV oral squamous cell carcinoma. She underwent surgery to remove the tumor (which also included removing about 1/3 of her tongue) and a neck resection to remove the cancerous lymph nodes. Her surgery was followed by 7 weeks of daily radiation treatments and 3 rounds of chemo. Following the completion of her treatments, she was considered NED (no evidence of disease) for almost a year and a half.
In the summer of 2023, it was confirmed that her cancer had returned and she was diagnosed as “Stage IV terminal.” Since then, she has been receiving bi-weekly treatment to stabilize the tumor growth and prevent metastasis. However, her current treatment is no longer working, and the tumor is growing again. She is now seeking out other forms of treatment, which requires additional testing, medications, and travel/lodging outside of her home state. This all comes at a hefty expense. Cindy is in need of financial support to continue her life-saving treatments.
