This is the story of Church, a dog who was struck by a hit and run driver on Monday evening, January 5, 2026. The accident happened at the intersection of Court Street and Yates Street. Immediately, several people—including local business employees, motorists, and neighbors—rushed to help. Church had no collar, and thanks to Paragould Animal Control, we learned he was not chipped, so there was no way to find an owner.
It was about 4:50 pm, and four people tried calling veterinary clinics in Paragould and the surrounding area, but only our vet in Gosnell, Arkansas answered and offered help. Church was gently removed from the accident scene and comforted before being taken on an hour-long drive to Gosnell for care. He suffered a broken leg, a broken pelvis, and other serious internal injuries. As of today, he’s able to eat a little and drink some water, but he can’t put pressure on his leg or pelvis. All signs are good that he’s going to get through this, but his vet bills will continue to climb as he faces a long recovery.
That’s why we’re asking for your help. Church belongs to no one, and everyone. The kindness of the vet and his staff cannot go without due compensation. All funds raised will go directly to Church’s veterinary care, medications, recovery, after care, vaccinations, registration, and preventative heartworm treatment. Any amount you can give will be a blessing. Church had no owner or name when he came into our lives, but now he has a community who cares and a name—Church—thanks to the veterinarian’s staff. Your support means the world to him and to all of us who have come together to help.
