Meet Chunky Salsa.
Chunk lives in Brooklyn, NY. He’s bright, smart, and oh-so-loving. I adopted a 4-year-old Chunk from a rescue back in 2017, three days before my father passed away. He immediately bonded with me—and I to him. He groomed my hair, laid on my chest, soothed my anxiety, and gave me someone to take care of when I could barely take care of myself. We’ve been together since.
A few weeks ago, Chunk got very sick. He’s never had any health issues before. Of course, we brought him to our primary vet, who performed x-rays. The radiologist said he may have a blockage in his guts and must have an ultrasound done as soon as possible. We needed to go to an E.R. for that, and got him there.
He’s been to the hospital three times since then for extended stays. He’s fighting severe pancreatitis, inflammation of his bile ducts and liver, fluctuating bilirubin counts, respiratory issues when at his worst (a symptom of his disease), and severe weight loss.
Chunk is every piece of my heart. He saved me when I experienced great loss. I want to save him, too. However, my partner and I spent all our savings and have acquired immense debt because of it. We’ve also hit the maximum of our insurance plan, and they won’t pay out anymore. We need help to save our boy, especially in the event he needs to go back to the hospital.
Any amount helps us continue care and, hopefully recoup some of what we’ve lost.
Thank you for sticking it out, reading, and for any love or donations sent.
