Help Chunk Fight Cancer

Please Help Save Chunk with life saving surgery and follow up treatment.

Hello everyone,

Our beloved Chuck is in urgent need of life-saving surgery, and we are asking for your help. Chunk is our sweet, silly, loving 6 year-old English Mastiff who is the epitome of a gentle giant. I use him as a therapy dog with the special needs kids that I work with. Chunk doesn’t know a stranger ( human or animal) and he can win over even those most fearful of dogs with his gentle, loving presence. He has given so much to our family and the children at my school and now he needs help.

Recently, Chunk was diagnosed with a Squamous Cell tumor, which grew very quickly. It all started with a small mass on his right elbow, which grew alarmingly fast into a large tumor. We took him to our local vet, but due to his size at (187 pounds), we had to seek specialist care in Pittsburgh at an hour and a half away. There through emergency care, they did a X-ray of his lungs and abdominal ultrasound to make sure the cancer had not spread yet. Thankfully it hadn’t!

The medical care and surgery he needed cost $8,000 and now we are looking at post medical care with more medicine, follow up care, and possibly oncology visits. Unfortunately since we live in a rural area where the veterinarians do not take pet insurance, we never purchased it. We have explored every option, but this is our only chance to save Chunk’s life. His surgeon has confirmed that while his tumor is aggressive, surgery can stop it from spreading and give him many more years to live.

Chunk is still full of life, love, and energy—he deserves a chance to keep fighting and enjoying life after how much joy he has brought to others. We cannot imagine losing him at only six years old when he still has so much life left to live.
