Hey! My name is Chuck Petrizzi, and I'm a 31-year-old trans guy who currently lives in Seattle, Washington. I have been out and on testosterone for about 3 and a half years now, but (due to financial situations and/or health insurance debacles) I haven't been able to figure out top surgery until now. Most of the cost of the surgery itself is being covered by my health insurance, but there are several other costs associated with major surgery that I need to raise funds for. I will include a price breakdown below!
So if you're lookin' to do your part to help out a trans person during these (un?)precedented times, consider helping me out! Trans healthcare is lifesaving, and I'm hoping to be able to get this procedure as soon as I can. Thankfully, I currently have top surgery scheduled for October 14th, 2025.
Here is the price breakdown of what I need:
Insurance is paying for most of the procedure, but there is a $600 co-pay and a $500 deductible. On top of that, anesthesia is billed separately, and I will not be able to check if it is covered by insurance until 30 days before the procedure. If uncovered, the cost can be up to $1900 (most likely, at least some of it will be covered by insurance, but I am unsure). I'm also going to have a period of recovery after the surgery where I will not be able to work or earn much of an income. My partner Josh has a full-time job, but living off that one income for up to 6-8 weeks will make things incredibly tight, especially since I will be much less able to help around the house and prep meals. Lastly, we have had a few health insurance hiccups while pursuing top surgery (being told insurance covered a certain provider and not finding out until after the appointment that insurance DIDN'T cover them, etc.) that we have been unable to pay.
I have been recommended for top surgery by my therapist, psychiatrist, and primary care doctor. It is something that will greatly improve my mental and physical health. If you can contribute any amount, Josh and I would be incredibly grateful! Also, feel free to share with anyone you know who wants to help out a struggling trans person in the midst of this rough political landscape.
