Help Chuck Burleson Fight Stage 4 Lymphoma
Our dad, Chuck Burleson, has just been hit with the hardest news of his life. A few weeks ago, he went in for what we thought was a routine biopsy on a lump in his throat. Shortly after, the oncologist admitted him to the hospital. Since then, things have moved very fast… he’s been diagnosed with Stage 4 Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma, an aggressive blood cancer that has already spread to his lymph nodes, lungs, liver, and kidneys.
This all came out of nowhere and has completely turned his world upside down.
What’s Happening Now
Chuck is at PeaceHealth Hospital and is about to start R-CHOP chemotherapy. The doctors have told us this type of cancer is aggressive, but it’s also one of the more treatable forms of lymphoma. There’s real hope, but the road ahead is going to be tough. Along with cancer, Dad is also dealing with diabetes and heart issues, which makes treatment and recovery more complicated.
The Immediate Need
We’re trying to move Dad out of the hospital and into an assisted living facility in Camas where he’ll be safe and cared for while starting chemo. Just getting him set up there is going to cost around $5,000 up front, and on top of that, we know there will be ongoing medical and care expenses. Sadly, it’s looking like Medicaid won’t be an option for him, which leaves our family to shoulder these costs.
How You Can Help
We’re asking for help to cover:
• $2,000 to get Dad into the assisted living facility in Camas
• Medical expenses not covered by insurance
• Daily living and caregiving support during treatment
• Basic items to help him feel comfortable and cared for (a bed, dresser, haircut, clothes, etc.)
From Our Family to Yours
We know times are tough for so many people right now, and asking for help isn’t easy. But this diagnosis came on so suddenly that we just weren’t prepared for the financial side of it. If you can give anything… big or small… it will go directly toward making sure Dad has the care, safety, and dignity he needs while he fights this.
If you’re not in a place to give, we would be so grateful if you could call him directly and keep him in your prayers. He welcomes visitors with notice.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for rallying around Chuck. With faith, family, and community, we believe he can beat this
