To all family, friends, acquaintances and any anonymous generous souls,
On Thursday, November 10th, Christy Ingram suffered a life-changing medical emergency that shook her family to its core.
Instantly Christy went from being her family's caretaker to fighting for her life in the ICU at Riverside Community Hospital following a significant stroke.
On behalf of Christy, her husband Aaron and children Lucas, Lily, and Paige, Neil Ottesen has arranged this Go Fund Me campaign to provide the best possible future for recovery for our dear friend.
Who is Christy Ingram?
Many of you may know Christy through her YouTube channel Slotty by Nature.
Christy is a loving mother, daughter, friend and colleague. Her qualities are endless and her heart is bigger than the ocean. Anyone who has had the pleasure to cross paths with Christy would agree that she is one of the kindest, selfless, warm and compassionate people they have ever met.
What happened?
On Sunday, November 6th, Christy experienced a migraine that subsequently got worse for the following four days. She developed further symptoms on Thursday, November 10th that included bright flashing in her vision, garbled language, and she later became unresponsive altogether. 911 was called, and she was rushed to the hospital. Christy suffered a stroke and had a blocked artery that required surgery and blood clots removed from her brain.
Where is she now?
Christy has spent the last week in the Intensive Care Unit at Riverside Community Hospital. She will eventually be transferred to lower-level care at the hospital, followed by months of rehabilitation.
Christy is a fighter and is impressing her doctors with daily improvements. Physically, she has regained the ability to speak and read again. Her speaking is shaky, and some words for her are hard to remember and difficult to say. She is paralyzed on the right side of her body but has shown some movement in her right arm and hand. She is able to stand and walk with assistance for a few seconds at a time. While the long-term outcome of her condition is still unknown, the road to recovery will be a long and challenging one.
Even though there is optimism in her daily improvements, the new reality of limited mobility and loss of independence is something Christy and her family are learning they might have to live with.
What are the next steps?
The road ahead will be long and challenging both physically and mentally for Christy, not to mention Aaron and the kids who are battling to deal with a new ‘normal’.
Thankfully, Christy has an amazing army of support behind her. This is surely a testament to the bonds Christy has built in her life, through her creating videos on Youtube and the slot community and her unconditional love for her family and friends.
The ultimate goal is to get Christy back home and live as independently as she can. For this to occur, Christy will require ongoing hospital support and rehabilitation to help her relearn fundamental skills. This starts with improving her movement & strength to regain some independence and improve her quality of life, eventually progressing to help her perform basic everyday tasks. Tasks that you or I would take for granted. Hopefully, Christy can eventually progress to being able to help take care of her family and continue to be the amazing Youtube creator and friend we have all known to love.
How can you help?
A significant financial responsibility will be required for Christy to receive the best care and long-term treatment. The cost of ICU, long-term hospital care and rehabilitation is massive.
All contributions will help fund medical bills and help with basic family expenses to keep the Ingrams afloat during this challenging time.
This is where we ask you for your kind support.
If you have the ability to make a financial contribution to support Christy, it would mean so much to her and her family. Any donation, no matter how small, would be greatly appreciated. If you are not able to contribute financially, a simple message of love and support would also go a long way to lifting all of their spirits.
