Hello, I am raising emergency funds for my neighbor Christy Jackson and her family - her husband, their seven children, and one grandchild.

Christy was in a terrible car crash on September 15th. Her brand-new truck flipped three times, and she was thrown out through the sunroof.

Christy was on her way to meet with MPHA (the Minneapolis Public Housing Authority), which has been targeting her family for displacement after her home—originally under Section 9—was privatized through a Section 18 demolition. Her rent increased afterward, and MPHA has repeatedly threatened to revoke her Section 8 voucher over a form they are missing.

This accident could easily have ended her life, but thankfully, she made it. Christy has a beautiful spirit and continues to express appreciation for those who have sent her well-wishes and for the simple fact that she is still alive.

In Christy's own words: "laying there, I realized just how quickly life can change. I could’ve been gone, but God’s hand was on me the whole time. He spared my life, and for that I will forever be grateful. Every breath, every step, every moment is a gift."

But Christy is on bed rest. In order to recover from her serious injuries, including a broken back and concussion, she can't move - which means she can't work. She is supposed to be relaxing, so her body can heal, but she is worried about providing for her family and keeping a roof over their head.
