Dear friends: my name is Jessica and I have been friends with Christy for over a decade. I am reaching out now because our girl is in trouble and needs our help.

For 17 years, Christy has suffered from chronic migraines, colitis, Trigeminal Neuralgia (also known as the suicide disease), osteopenia, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis and fibromyalgia. If this is news to you, it’s because she is a master at hiding her pain for the sake of others. Christy battles her illness silently and tries hard to make sure everyone around her is comfortable. Recently, she received debilitating news regarding her medical issues and now needs our help more than ever.

In early November 2024, Christy had an accidental fall caused by her fibromyalgia. After trying to stand up from a chair, her leg went dead and she fell to the floor, twisting her ankle and tearing tendons and ligaments in both of her feet. After 16 painful weeks of being confined to a wheelchair, she finally got much needed medical testing done in late February 2025. The delay in her care was due to a negligent healthcare system which saw numerous errors in communication, inadequate staffing and substandard medical care for Christy.

Unfortunately, 16 weeks of immobility has left her unable to walk. Christy now needs custom-made braces on her legs, an expense not covered by insurance. She also needs six months of home-based physical therapy 3-5 times per week, also not covered by insurance. These painful necessities are needed to give Christy a fighting chance to be able to walk and dance again.

To make matters worse, Christys pain management doctor has suddenly decided to withhold a life-saving pain medication treatment plan that has been carefully crafted over many years to help Christy. His reason for withholding? “Government.” The withdrawal of this medication can lead to life-threatening symptoms, intense pain and desperation. Doctors are booked until summer or not taking new patients, leaving Christy’s health and life in jeopardy.

Due to her status as an independent contractor, Christy does not qualify for disability. Her only route is Social Security disability, which has a 9-12 month waiting list. Christy is facing at least six months of intense symptoms and pain dealing with a negligent healthcare system that has already let her down countless times. She and Eddie desperately need our help now to give her a chance at the life she deserves.
