My name is Meri Haertel and I'm helping my dear friend Christine Lehman to raise money for medical treatment to help her fight MS. Christine was diagnosed “late in the game” 3 years ago at the age of 44. Her son James was diagnosed 1 year before her. She is one of the kindest, most generous women I know. The world is a better place because she is in it and I want to help her fight this disease to give her the best quality of life she can have.

She currently struggles with vision issues, mobility issues, right hand issues, speech and swallowing issues, bladder issues, left foot drop and severe spasticity.

Due to the progressiveness of her MS, Christine is not a candidate for stem cell transplant, but she is a candidate for stem cell therapy. There are current trials with stem cells in the US that look very promising, but it will still be a few years before they are even a possibility to be approved in the US. Stem cell therapy is showing AMAZING results in other countries!

She has applied for treatment at The Stem Cell Institute in Panama. She has an initial approval and qualification. She needs an initial deposit of $12,500 to be put on the schedule, and $40,000 for the first year of treatment. Ultimately, she will need to raise $80,000 for the entire course of treatments.

Christine has tried different disease modification drugs including chemotherapy to slow the progression of her disease. Her body can no longer tolerate the latest drug that had previously helped stall the progression of the disease. These treatments were mostly covered by insurance. Unfortunately, she no longer qualifies to receive it. Christine has been recognized as a top fundraiserer for MS Walk for the last 3 years. It's time that we will help raise money for HER fight! Christine and her husband Mike have 4 children. Brandi is married to Dan and they have a 4 year old daughter Pilot. James is recently engaged to be married to Serena. Taylor is 26 and working; Chiara is 16 years old, living at home and a huge blessing to her mama.
